DonorsChoose.org
To help with materials lost in the tornado, Mrs. White has been hard at work posting projects on DonorsChoose.org. Donors Choose lets teachers post projects online, explaining why they need the items they are asking for, and how those materials will help in the classroom. People go onto Donorschoose.org and donate money to projects of their choice. Once a teacher's project is fully funded, Donors Choose purchases the requested materials and sends them to the teacher.
Our first project was created so that we could begin to work on Pre-Vocational skills in the classroom. We received our kits in the mail last week and have already started working with them. The kits help students learn how to sort with various sizes, colors, and shapes and also teaches them to put "sets" together. We have another project currently posted on DonorsChoose.org and we can't wait until it gets funded!

Laptops and iPads
Every student at Joplin High School now has either a laptop or an iPad! In our classroom we are pretty much split, half of the students preferred laptops and the other half wanted iPads. We are very excited to start using these in the classroom! There are so many great things we can do with this technology and we will be using them on a daily basis!
Fun Projects!
For our first fun project of the year, the class decided to make curtains for our East facing windows. The students painted "JHS Joplin Eagles" on two curtains so that we could hang one for the cars driving by to see and one to face inside the classroom. We are very proud of them so be sure to drive down Wall and look at our school-spirited curtains!! We received many compliments on them and were even asked to decorate other windows around the school!
